President's Message

The Appraisal Institute, along with state chapters such as the West Virginia Appraisal Institute Chapter, are the leaders in real estate appraisal education, research, and professional membership designation programs.  Members of the Appraisal Institute are recognized as leaders of the industry who must adhere to a Code of Professional Ethics and Standards and meet high education and experience requirements.  Appraisal Institute members are highly respected by those seeking real estate appraisal and related services.

As the 2017 President of the West Virginia Chapter of the Appraisal Institute, I welcome you to our website and invite you to seek out our members for your real estate valuation needs.

While we are a small chapter, we are still able to develop designated members. In 2016, we installed two additional SRA members. For 2017, we have one AI-RRS candidate, two SRA candidates, two MAI candidates, and we anticipate one of the SRA candidates and one of the MAI candidates to achieve designation in 2017.

In addition to our members offering appraisal services, our chapter strives to sponsor quality, relevant educational offerings. We are pleased to announce that our first education offering of 2017, “Review Theory – Residential”, was a great success. This class is the fundamental review course that all reviewers should have in their education background. It is a required course for individuals pursuing the Appraisal Institute Residential Review Designation. This offering was held in Charleston from May 8-10, 2017. Please check on our Welcome page under “Meetings and Events” for our next offering.

I would like to give a special thanks to our Executive Director, Nancy Linton-Hall, for her efforts which have resulted in The WV Chapter winning the Small Chapter Newsletter Award 4 times out of the last 5 years. Thank you, Nancy.
